Phantom was built on real technical foundations, proven on the water by real riders, and that heritage is something I intend to honor and push even further.
My vision for the future is simple but demanding: put the Athlete at the absolute center of everything we do. Every board, every foil, every component we design and produce will go through the same question: does this make the experience on the water better, safer, and more exciting? At Phantom we want to work with the best athletes, the best shapers, the best engineers in each discipline where Phantom competes, whether that's wingfoil, SUP, or sailmaking, because excellence demands the right people around the table. But beyond the product itself, we want Phantom to be a brand you can actually talk to. A brand that listens, that answers, that cares about your feedback and your progression. Attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship, and a genuine relationship with each of you, that is what the future is about.
The foundation is solid. Now let's build something exceptional together.
Thomas Normand, President — Phantom

A Track Record That Speaks for Itself
Phantom Watersport was founded in Dinard, Brittany. What began on the F18 circuit — three World Championship titles and a race-winning sailmaking division — became the world's first foiling production catamaran in 2013, and a PWA Windfoil World Championship in 2019. Every product Phantom builds carries the same philosophy: less guesswork, more data. CFD modelling. America's Cup engineering partners. Carbon construction developed alongside the best designers in the sport. Today that means wingfoil gear, sails, and custom sail-making — all made for sailors who want to go faster, and know the difference quality makes.
What makes Phantom different?

One Brand, Every Level
We usually excel in one specific segment.
Phantom made a different choice: not to choose at all. And that is the real difference.

From First Ride to Mastery
A champion and a beginner can ride Phantom. two generations can share the same experience. This level of universality is achieved without ever compromising performance.

More Than Speed
Beyond the product itself, Phantom is grounded in a clear purpose. Rather than focusing only on speed and technical data, we center everything on what the ride actually makes you feel, a distinctive and lasting position.
Sail & Foils are your boat's engine. Over the last 15 years, we have learned how to make that engine more powerful, more stable, and more intuitive.

15 Years of Continuous Evolution

2008 – 2012 · The F18 era
Where every Phantom begins: the racecourse.
Founded in Dinard, Brittany, Phantom was built by sailors who race. Between 2008 and 2012, the F18 programme delivered three Formula 18 World Championship titles — the most competitive one-design catamaran class in the world. That same racing programme funded a sailmaking division equipped with tools once reserved for America's Cup campaigns: 3D design software, CFD, and Finite Element Analysis. By 2011, the F18 had become a test laboratory — and the team was already designing the hydrofoils that would help change sailing forever.

2012 – 2018 · The flying Phantom era
Before anyone else, Phantom made foiling accessible.
In 2011, Phantom set out to build something that didn't exist yet: a production foiling catamaran that a club sailor could launch from a beach, lift off the water at 7 knots, and fly past 30. Three years of development, six generations of foils. The Flying Phantom Elite debuted at the 2013 Paris Boat Show — designed by Martin Fischer, built from pre-preg carbon and Nomex honeycomb — and became the first commercially available foiling catamaran ever sold, capable of foiling upwind before any boat in its class. It grew into a full racing ecosystem touring Europe's major events, with Red Bull choosing it as the official platform for its Foiling Generation youth circuit. By 2016, the range had expanded to three boats — including the FP Ultimate, the first 18-foot catamaran capable of 100% upwind foiling.

2018 – NOW · Windfoiling & Wingfoiling
When no one knew our name, we won the world title.
In autumn 2018, Phantom brought its foil engineering into windfoiling — and by the end of 2019, the brand had a PWA World Champion. It had taken one season. At the Mercedes-Benz Windsurf World Cup in Sylt, 23-year-old Nicolas Goyard won the PWA Men's Windfoil World Championship, with three Phantom riders finishing in the top five overall. The Iris R foil behind those results was developed with the same America's Cup-grade tools as the Flying Phantom — reaching the world title with just two prototypes. In 2021, Nicolas Goyard broke the 40-knot windfoil barrier at 41.01 knots in Fuerteventura. Today, Phantom covers windfoil boards, sails, foils, and a growing wingfoil programme — built for sailors who know the difference quality makes.
From Formula 18 to foil and sailmaking: Technical synergies
Why our experience in F18 and Flying phantom are crucial for sailing boats?
1. Mastering High Speeds
With the advent of foiling in windsurfing and the Flying Phantom project, we had to design sails capable of handling extreme apparent wind. This science of profile stability is directly applied to our boat sails to minimize drag and maximize lift.
2. Cutting-Edge Materials & Lightweight Design
In F18 racing, every gram counts. We use advanced laminate technologies and oriented cuts (Tri-radial, Membrane) proven in the harshest conditions to ensure exceptional longevity without deformation.
3. Competition DNA for Cruising
Whether you are a demanding racer or a cruiser seeking comfort, you benefit from the same rigorous calculations. Our aero-elastic simulation software, developed to win world titles, is used to optimize the shape of every Phantom sail.
